bohemia

I'll let Marianne Faithfull speak for me...

"what the hell happened to bohemia? it took a hundred years for symbolist poets, absinthe-soaked painters and talented layabouts to create, and just twenty years for slick pseudo hipsters to fuck it all up and dilute it into the latest designer jeans ad. it's the curse of the hollow tinsel bohemia! all that's phoney rises, everybody's cool and nobody knows what the hell it means. it's just pret-a-porter bohemia. consumer cool. take me back..."

I'M ON FIRE

Hey little boy is your mama home
Did she go and leave you alone, no
Got a bad desire
Oh, I'm on fire

Tell me now baby is she good to you
Can she do to you the things that I do
Oh, I can take you higher
Oh, I'm on fire

Sometimes it's like someone took a knife, edgy and blunt
Put a six inch valley through the middle of my soul
Oh, at night I lay at home with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the middle of my head
But you, you cool my desire

Oh, I'm on fire

Sometimes it's like someone took a knife, edgy and blunt
Put a six inch valley through the middle of my soul
Oh, at night I lay at home with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the middle of my head
But you, you cool my desire
Oh, I'm on fire

i know originally it was bruce springteen's...but today this is my favourite. got a bad desire. i'm on fire.

should i take it personally?

the apocalypse: the woman of babylon (aka the whore of babylon) by Albrecht Dürer

introduction

starting my blog... i am doing it. junk and genius, a contradiction? it's up to you.

just hung up on the phone with a friend who's a bit junk and genius and is having some problems for this reason. i love her. is it possible for something with no contradictions to be fascinating? or interesting? i live in a perpetual struggle between opposing emotions, ideas and feelings. sometimes i miss peace. sometimes i think that this is what makes me special.

here's a poem celebrating the contradictions of what was once the most appealing place in the world:

HOLLYWOOD. HOLLYWOOD BABYLON. i come from there.

hollywood, hollywood...

fabulous holywood...

celluloid babylon

glorious, glamorous...

city delirious,

frivolous, serious,

bold and ambitious,

and vicious and glamorous.

drama - a city full,

tragic and pitiful...

bunk, junk and genius

amazingly blended...

tawdry, tremendous,

absurd, stupendous;

shoddy and cheap,

and astonishingly splendid...

hollywood!!
